ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was not lambasted at the national working committee's meeting, as media reports suggest, the party said on Sunday.

"Whoever said that is misinformed, nothing like that happened. Julius was never lambasted at the meeting... the person saying that was not at that meeting," said ANC spokesperson Ishmail Mnisi.

The Sunday Times reported that Malema was told to shut up by NEC members and follow proper party processes when he sought to convince party leaders to discuss the nationalisation of mines.

Mnisi said the meeting was still on and the ANC might call a press conference on the outcome on Monday.
